Overview

What it is

Tetrium Haptic Cinema™ is a synchronized haptic feedback technology that enhances media playback by coordinating precise tactile responses with supported on-screen content.

The Problem

Traditional media consumption relies entirely on sight and sound, leaving the tactile senses completely unengaged during intense or emotional moments.

Why it exists

By engaging the user's sense of touch, we can create a dramatically more immersive and visceral entertainment experience, pulling the viewer directly into the scene.

Engineering Goals

Haptic Synchronization

Frame-perfect coordination between video, audio, and vibration.

Adaptive Intensity

Scales feedback based on the device's capabilities and scene context.

Accessibility

Provides tactile cues for crucial on-screen actions or environmental effects.

High-Level Technical Overview

The haptic engine parses metadata embedded within the media stream to trigger precise actuator responses. It relies on a low-latency bus to ensure that vibrations—ranging from subtle environmental rumbles to sharp, intense impacts—occur in perfect synchronization with the audio-visual pipeline. The engine is battery-aware, dynamically scaling back intensity if the host device's power levels fall below a critical threshold.
